Consider!

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” - John 1:14
Consider what a condescension by God is being proclaimed in this verse!
The Word Became Flesh,
The Infinite One became finite,
The Eternal One became temporal,
The Pure Son lay in a dirty feeding trough for animals,
The Holy Son of God to dwell among sinful humanity.
The Apostle Paul expands what is to be understood in this condescension of God in his letter to the Philippian Church saying that,
“though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:6-8)
Consider why!
Why would God “empty himself?”
Why would the Omnipotent One “take the form of a servant?”
Why would the Creator, Who said, “Let us make man in our image” (Genesis 1:26),
be “born in the likeness of men?”
And why would the Ever-Living God, “humble himself by becoming obedient
to the point of death, even [the cruel, shameful, tortuous] death on a cross?”
He did it...
Because we cannot ascend.
Because the sinful need something outside themselves to be made holy.
Because the dirty need something outside themselves to make them clean.
Because those who are condemned cannot declare themselves acquitted.
He did it...
So that the finite could become infinite!
So that the temporal could become eternal!
So that filthy rags could be traded for righteous robes!
So that sinful, enemies of God could become holy, chosen, beloved,
children of God, adopted as His own!
He did it...
For the glory of God!
He did it...
For all who will believe.
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13
Consider what love has come!
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” - 1 John 3:1 (NIV)
Consider this Christmas that the God of the entire universe loved humanity enough to condescend so that those who believe might ascend as His adopted children.
Consider: What do you believe about the baby in the manger?
